Techniques are needed to visualize ideas into tangible forms. I pursue these questions through photography, drawing, sculpture, installation, multimedia, and coding—combining materials and crossing genres and boundaries through experimentation. Clothes shelter the body, shoes support a step, and a watch marks the passing of time. Beyond these shared functions, brands arrange objects into ranks that seem to extend to the people wearing them. The body becomes a package for signs of distinction, even though beneath those layers we share the same flesh and bone. In clothing, desire often appears beautifully composed. I wanted to acknowledge honestly that even as someone who makes art, I am not entirely free from the pull of status and consumption. I wanted to give form to the feeling that filling myself with more expensive goods can make me less certain of who I am. We occupy different places in a ranking, yet live under the same habit of being ranked. By allowing clothing to arrive as a projection, I wanted to make those distinctions feel temporary, something laid across the body rather than carved into it. What do our coverings conceal, and what do they persuade us to see?
